Behind-the-Scenes of My First Advert
A few months ago I booked my first commercial. :cue confetti cannons: π It was very exciting!
Here are my top three takeaways from being on set:
DONβT GET READY, STAY READY. Thereβs not a lot of time and thereβs a lot to prep and film. Watching Rylanβs reset was a masterclass in itself. Heβs quick. We would do a take then BAM he was ready for the next one. Even when I was doing my close up shots, Emily, the director, would literally do a take, give direction, then move to action until she got everything she needed. Stay ready.
EVERYONE PLAYS THEIR PART. Iβve spent the past few years in a recording studio with a director and a sound engineer. To be on set with a stylist, makeup artist, production runners, lighting, sound, etc. was a whole lot different to the less noisy, less busy sound studio. Seeing this play out was like a dance in itself. One woman was even in charge of the ice cream cone seen in the final cut. It was phenomenal to watch.
BE KIND AND PROFESSIONAL. After I wrapped and was free to go, Emily thanked me and the whole crew clapped. Rylan gave me a hug and congratulated me on my first commercial. Lara, the assistant stylist, shared the photos in the post. And Morris, an assistant director, helped me get some snacks from the canteen.
Overall it was such a wonderful experience and fun set to be on. And now you can enjoy the final cut!! But oi! Whereβs my raspberry ripple?! π
