The Iconic DVF Wrap Dress
Yes, she has seen me pre-pandemic and she is seeing me post- well, now. Whatever this is. According to the British government it's "living with Covid". That's where we're at now- living with it.
But this isn't a sad post, no! This is an extremely happy post! A joie de vivre post! Because I have fallen even more in love with my DVF dress! Diane Von FΓΌrstenberg first introduced this dress back in 1974 and it's been an icon ever since.
Here's what I love most about it:
1. It cinches at the waist and, because it does, is instantly flattering.
2. You can throw it on and instantly look fabulous, even with a messy top knot and sandals.
3. It's still an icon after 48 years. Talk about longevity.
4. This particular dress I'm wearing has seen me through a 20lb gain and STILL manages to make me feel beautiful, fun, & shall I say it- sexy?
5. It twirls!
I saved up for four months to buy this one from NET-A-PORTER for my birthday back in 2019, and so far it's been one of the best purchases I've ever made. It's the kind of dress that has been there for birthday dinners, weddings, photo sessions in your living room, and will probably be there for lots of other moments.
Looking at these photos I was reminded of a quote I once read by Diana Vreeland, a former editor of Vogue-
"It's not about the dress you wear, but it's about the life you lead in the dress."
And this dress reminds me that I indeed have a life to enjoy, pooch and all.
